Hey everyone!
My name is Zack, I’m a Year 3 UniMelb student and I play floorball here in Melbourne. I’m helping my friends at Floorball Victoria spread the word about some upcoming Social Floorball 4v4 games, and thought there might be some people here keen to give it a try!
🏑 What is floorball?
The easiest way to describe floorball is ice hockey, but on a court and without the ice or skates.
It’s a fast-paced indoor sport played with lightweight sticks and a plastic ball. Floorball originated and became especially popular in Scandinavian and other European countries and has since expanded around the world.
One of the best things about floorball is that it’s really easy to pick up as a beginner. You don't need to know all the rules or have played hockey before, if you can run around and hold a stick, you can get involved pretty quickly!
It’s fast, competitive, and a surprisingly good workout, but these sessions are designed to be social and beginner-friendly, so you absolutely don't need any previous floorball experience.
There’s also a growing floorball community in Melbourne and Victoria, with social sessions, leagues and tournaments throughout the year. So if you're looking for a new sport, want to meet people, or just want something fun and active to do on a Sunday, this could be a great way to try it out!
